The Real Reason You Keep Overthinking (+ How to STop)
Why You Keep Overthinking Everything
In this episode of Rewild by Design, Marissa explains why overthinking happens and why it has nothing to do with thinking too much.
Overthinking is often the result of going against what your body already knows and then trying to think your way back into certainty.
The Moment Overthinking Starts
Overthinking doesn’t begin at the start of a situation. It begins after you override your initial response.
This can show up as saying yes when you didn’t want to, holding back what you wanted to say, or ignoring when something feels off.
From there, the mind takes over and begins replaying, analyzing, and trying to make sense of the situation.
Mental Exhaustion and Self-Doubt
This pattern creates a loop of second guessing, overanalyzing, and needing more time to make decisions.
Instead of trusting your initial response, you rely on your mind to confirm or correct it, which leads to mental exhaustion and a lack of self-trust.
Human Design and Decision Making
Human Design offers a different way to approach decision making. Rather than relying on the mind, it shows how your body is designed to respond through your authority.
When you begin working with your design, decisions become clearer and the need to overthink starts to decrease.
