The Cost of Staying in Loops
Overthinking comes with a price:
Energy: waking up already tired because your brain never stopped.
Emotions: more anxiety, resentment, and disconnection from joy.
Relationships: being so in your head that you miss the present moment.
Purpose: endless planning and second-guessing instead of doing what you want.
Midlife makes the cost even clearer, because your body no longer has the reserves to carry what it once did.
How to Step Out of Spiraling
Breaking the cycle doesn’t happen by thinking harder. It happens by shifting your energy:
Ground into your body with breath and presence.
Move your body. Stretch, walk, shake, or dance to break the loop.
Write it down to empty your head.
Try EFT tapping to calm your system.
Limit input. That means less scrolling, less noise, less comparison.
Ask better questions: “What would feel supportive right now?” instead of “What if it all goes wrong?”
